What makes a Protection Plan different than a manufacturer’s limited warranty?
“Warranty,” “Vehicle Service Contract,” “Protection Plan,” and other similar terminology are often used interchangeably, but it’s important to know that they actually refer to different valuable coverages and benefits. GM’s Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty covers specified vehicle repairs, including parts and labor, to correct defects in materials or workmanship. The Buick Protection Plan provides additional protection on top of the manufacturer’s limited warranty for your Buick’s engine, steering, and more. Ask your dealer about additional details and pricing.
What is the benefit of purchasing a Buick Protection Plan?
A Buick Protection Plan is the only coverage endorsed by Buick and backed by General Motors. It gives you coverage you can count on, with additional benefits on the road so you can drive confidently.
Can I purchase a Buick Protection Plan on top of my manufacturer’s warranty?
Yes! It’s easy to add additional Buick-endorsed, GM-backed coverage on top of your existing manufacturer’s warranty. With three (3) coverage options, customizable contract terms and deductibles, and coverage on up to 1,500 parts, you can help protect yourself from unexpected and potentially costly covered repairs. Plan coverage runs concurrently with any applicable manufacturer warranties. For more details and pricing information, talk to your dealer.
How do I know which Buick Protection Plan is right for me?
Find the level of protection that fits your lifestyle with Powertrain, Silver, and Platinum coverage options. You can also choose the term and deductible that works for you. Platinum coverage terms, for example, are available for up to 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The Buick Protection Plan covers up to 1,500 parts and components on your vehicle, depending on what plan you select. See your dealer for assistance in finding the right plan for you.

Why should I consider GAP coverage when I already have insurance?
Vehicle age, mileage, condition, and depreciation are all factors insurance companies use to determine your car’s value if your vehicle is totaled. Insurance will pay the cash value at the time of loss, which means in certain scenarios you may owe more than your car is worth, leaving you with outstanding debt. Buick GAP
* can provide added financial protection by waiving some or all of the difference if your insurance settlement is less than what you owe, including the deductible.

What are some of the key benefits of GAP?
GAP Protection, endorsed by Buick and General Motors, offers terms of up to 8 years and is available for any finance amount on new or pre-owned vehicles at the time of purchase. There is no maximum dollar amount on covered losses that are waived and the plan includes a waiver for your primary insurance deductible up to $1,000
* .
What is the difference between GAP and GAP Plus?
In the event of a total loss of the covered vehicle, Buick GAP Plus provides all the benefits of GAP and additionally provides you with a $1,000 credit at the selling dealer, to be applied exclusively toward the purchase of a replacement vehicle.
How do I file a claim?

Customer can email documents or utilize the Administrator’s self-service GAP Portal found at sggap.com. The Waiver Benefit may be denied if the claim is not properly initiated within the time frame.
