About Rear Seat Belt Indicator
Rear Seat Belt Indicator helps remind rear seat passengers to buckle up. It’s designed to alert the driver of unbuckled passengers with an icon in the instrument cluster and chime alerts.
How does Rear Seat Belt Indicator work?
- When you turn your vehicle on, you’ll see an icon in your instrument cluster letting you know which seat belts are buckled in your vehicle.
- If you or your passengers don’t buckle up, you’ll see the icon in your cluster light up or flash. You may also hear a series of chimes until everyone buckles their seat belt.
- When you turn your vehicle on, you will see red Xs over the unbuckled rear seats in this icon.
- You’ll also see the icon if a rear passenger unbuckles their seat belt. If they unbuckle while your vehicle is moving, you’ll also hear chimes.
- You’ll also see the icon if a rear passenger unbuckles their seat belt. If they unbuckle while your vehicle is moving, you’ll also hear chimes.
- If all rear seat passengers are buckled when you turn the vehicle on, you won’t see any icon or hear any chimes.
- If you store items in the rear seat, the system may think they are an unbuckled passenger and sound reminder chimes. To stop this from happening, buckle the seat belt or remove the object from the seat.
